Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa
Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
There was a significant fire at Gurudwara last night that burned down most of the building. With Waheguru's grace, no one was hurt. While the community is heavy hearted due to the loss, however, the spirits are high and we remain in Chardi Kala as per our Guru's teachings.
Here are more details on the sad event:
There was a fire at the community gurdwara last night. Police and firefighters were called about midnight with a report of flames shooting from the back of the building. The firefighters were able to put the blaze out but not before significant damage was done to the structure.
They were able to save Guru Granth Sahib Ji and while there is water damage to the three Swaroops, they were not burned. We can thank Waheguru for that.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. An investigation is ongoing but there is no sign of foul play that we can see. It is possible that it is from some sort of electrical problem since it started near the heating and cooling units in the back. The building is definitely not usable but the insurance company has been called and the building is insured.
There is a lot of work ahead of us. With Guru's grace and Sangat's participation, we have no doubt that we will rebuild and restart soon. With Waheguru's help, we will be able to worship at 704 Washburn Rd. again soon.
There will not be a service this Sunday, March 16 at the Gurudwara. We will keep the Sangat informed on the Gurudwara services; we will possibly gather at Sangat's houses for our Sunday services. We With Waheguru's grace, the Sikh Sangat of East Tennessee will continue strong and united.
